So I finally have a moment that I can share Hayzen's birth story!
On Sunday 8.5.12 I woke up at 3:30am with minor contractions. I knew they weren't anything more than Braxton Hicks because I had them a week earlier and my doctor told me at my appointment that that's what they were and not to worry. I took a shower to try and get them to stop, took some Tylenol and just prayed that they would go away and I could go back to sleep. Well they didn't go away and they got more intense. By the time Shad got home from Drill about 4:30 I was in so much pain and contracting every 5 minutes...real contractions not Braxton Hicks. Shad and I ate some dinner and about an hour later my contractions got really intense and were 3 minutes apart. Shad wanted to take me to the hospital but I wouldn't let him until I called the on call doctor and made sure it wouldn't be a wasted trip. So I called and was told that since I hadn't felt Hayzen move much throughout the day, I felt him move 2 times, that I should come in so they could make sure he was okay! So we got in the car and left. After checking in the nurse checked me and told us that I was dilated to a 3, totally thinned out and that his head was riding really low. She told us that he would be coming either that night or the next day for sure. After being their for 4 hours we were sent home because I wasn't progressing fast enough. As soon as we got home my contractions got to every 30 seconds and I couldn't sit down or lay down without being in so much pain. I couldn't relax my body enough to breathe through them like I was told. So after about 2 hours we headed back to the hospital. At this point I was dilated a little more than a 5. They gave me the Epidural and I slept until 8:00am Monday morning. At that point the doctor came in and said I was at an 8 and broke my water. At 9:00am I started pushing. And at 9:54am my baby was born!! It went by so fast that I couldn't believe what was happening! :) Even though I had the epidural I didn't push the button once to give me more because I wanted to feel him being born! And I did, it was amazing!! :)
I still can't believe I only pushed for 54 minutes before he was born! Seeing him come out of my body was amazing! He was all white and perfect! They laid him on my chest right away and I couldn't take my eyes off of him! All I could think about was how perfect he was and how much I already loved him! He was 6lbs 14oz 18.5 inches! Soooo small! Much smaller then I ever thought he would be! I honestly expected an 8-9lb baby at full term! But I couldn't be more happy that he decided to come 2 1/2 weeks early!
The next 3 days in the hospital were amazing! I couldn't get enough of my baby boy! I could not stop staring at him and smiling because I was and still am so very happy that this little boy could bless our lives!

Though as lucky as we have been to have Hayzen in our lives, it wasn't perfect. We were told because our blood types are different, he's positive and I'm negative blood, that he was at a much higher risk of being jaundice. The pediatrician came in and tested his blood, and his levels were super low. He was tested a total of 3 times while in the hospital and every time his levels were super low. So the pediatrician told us not to worry about him having it. He wanted us to come in on Friday to the office to have him tested again as a precaution. On Friday I was told that his level was 17.4 and to come back Saturday to get retested. On Saturday his level was at 18.5 and they were getting a little worried. On Monday we went back and his levels had dropped to 17.9! This news was amazing to hear!! We don't have to go back until his 2 week visit on Monday August 20!! Makes me so happy!
