A Year in Review

I feel so bad that it has been over a year since my last post! This past year has been crazy busy!! So I will just take a few and highlight some of our bigger events.

Shad has been finishing up his Massage Therapy classes, and I'm proud to announce that he will be Graduating December 19th!!!! I'm so proud of him! He has worked so hard for this day and couldn't deserve it more! He has one more test to get his license and then he can start charging for massages!! I am so excited for him!

As for me, I graduated from UVU with my Associates Degree and don't plan on doing anymore school for awhile. I am working at America First Credit Union and would love to make a career out of working for a Financial Institution. I don't think I will work for America First for the rest of my life, but I would love to stay in this field of work. I enjoy it so much!

An update on my mom, she has finished all of her treatments for the cancer! She is focusing on getting all her strength back and moving forward in her life. Of course we all know that she will never be able to feel like her self 100% again. But she is working hard at it. She is my hero! She has been through so much the past 2 years and gets stronger every day! She is working for IHC and is starting their Nursing Program next month! I am so proud of her for working so hard towards her dream of being an RN! She truly is a wonderful woman!

Shad and I have been so blessed to have my parents who are so willing to help us out with anything and everything that comes up! I don't know where we would be in life if it weren't for them. As most of you know we had to move back in with them last December. We are now saving up to buy a house! I am so excited to get into our own place...that we actually own!! We have talked about moving into an apartment, but we both don't see the point in wasting money for rent when we can save that money for our own home. So we are staying with my parents a little bit longer so we are able to buy a place.

As most of you know Shad is in the National Guard. His unit is preparing to go to Korea for 4 weeks in March. He then will be going to Germany in September for 3 weeks. He is so excited to go. I'm just waiting for his Commander to tell us that they are deploying. It's their turn and I'm scared to death for that day to come! I have dealt with a deployment before, but only with my brother and close friends. Never with my husband. But I will deal with that trial when the day comes. As for now I will enjoy every day I have with him. One of my favorite sayings is "live every day like he deploys tomorrow" and that's exactly what we are doing!

I have gotten really involved in his unit and love it! I am the Family Readiness Group Leader and I love it. I get to plan all the activities and get to know all the soldiers and their families. In my mind it's the least I can do to help out! We just got done with our Unit Christmas Party. It was a HUGE success! We had so much fun! I'm way excited to plan our family day! As for when they are in Korea I have been tasked with getting a calling tree put together and contacting each family at least once while they are there. I'm way nervous about this because one has never been put together. Which means I don't have contact information for hardly any of the families. But I know it will all work out in the end! I have some wonderful ladies in the unit who are helping me! And the Commander is more than willing to help in anyway. So I think I will survive. :)

A few pictures from the summer...
